Strolling across the bridge is a breathtaking experience. Walkers are allowed on the east pathway from 5 am to 6:30 pm (9 pm during daylights savings). There are gates that automatically close, so make sure to keep track of the time. Bikes can traverse the east and west sidewalks 24-hours a day.

The temperature and winds can change very quickly in San Francisco, especially in places near the water like the Golden Gate Bridge. May and June and September and October are probably the best months to visit. Fog can roll in as well, so make sure to bring plenty of layers and prepare for a range of climates.

Is there parking?
Parking can be extremely difficult to find near the bridge, so it is recommended you visit by public transit, walking or bike. If you do drive, the Northeast lot offers free parking for up to 4 hours, while the Southeast lot costs $.25 per 15 minutes.
